Windows 10: Windows 10 sync

Even being the neophyte and amateur I am, I like to think my spending 2 to 3 hours a day learning all I can about Windows would have taught me that W10 started something new with the sync process. I guess I missed that part. But, with the November update, I had major problems with my NAS due to the sync.

I had to sign into my Microsoft account with a password to get the OS to start. There was no prior announcement of which I was aware to alert the average user this would be in effect. I spent a week trying to figure out what was wrong until I learned one could sign in as a 'local user'.

So I lose the sync capability. So what? I don't need it. I use the Home edition of W10. I have 1 PC and 2 laptops and a very capable network setup. Why did Microsoft decide for me that I wanted to sync all my computers in the cloud?

OK, so i figured it out myself

Found the logfile in "C:\Windows\Minidump".

You need the Windows Development Kit to open it and a bit of googling to understand it.

Found out that a Daemon driver caused an error. Removed Daemon but this didn't solve it. (ps: Daemon itself worked normally).

I let hibernate my computer again and found another error with sptd2.sys: SCSI Pass Through Direct layer

More google and ended up on the duplexsecure site. Downloaded the W10 version and voila: problem fixed.

For the Windows support team: It would be really helpfull if you could pass problems to a more skilled helpdesk who can do more than proposing the standard solutions in case those won't work.

Windows 10 Unexpected shutdown on start up

OK, so I also found out that this occurs when sleepmode (for me after 3 hours) changes into hibernate mode.

Seems like the going into hibernate and/or starting up from HIbernate results in a shutdown. In safeboot it works perfectly.

Anyone any idea how I can figure out where it goes wrong. Is there a way to log this (I couldn't find it in bootlog)

If you like, you can turn on or off your sync settings at will, and still use a Microsoft account.

Thank you, I have done that. The process was not the problem. Having to dig for the information was.
