    Windows 10 system disk suddenly locked, prompting for BitLocker recovery key upon restart


    The information displayed in my account does not include the key information for my current ID. My current ID is 714134ED, and I would like to know how to obtain the key or where the key related to my current ID has been saved?

    Suddenly prompted for Bitlocker recovery key

    Hi,

    I rebooted my Surface Pro 4 running Windows 10 Pro (latest updates), and out of the blue I was prompted for a Bitlocker recovery key.

    I assume this has to do with hard disk encryption, but I have never enabled this.

    I just clicked continue to Windows 10 and everything was fine, but what has happened?

    Thanks for replying, but I still do not understand why I suddenly got a question about Bitlocker recovery key when booting.

    I have never installed or enabled Bitlocker.
