Windows 10: Windows 10 system grabbing incorrect IP address

added 2 new Windows 10 computers to my network and one works fine but the other has pulled an IP address that is not being handed out by my router. I can get on the internet ok but cant connect to my printer as it is address is 192.168.1.11 and the computer has an IP address of 10.1.10.2. I have released and renewed and it grabs the same addresses. I have tried to put in a static address and it says its an unknown network. How do get this system to grab the correct IP from my router?

Windows Phone 7 Slow on Wifi?

FINALLY FIXED THIS! This is a bug in windows phone as I watched the router and the htc arrive connects, but grabs MULTIPLE ip addresses! It grabs 3 or 4. I put in a reservation with the mac address to one ip, BOOM worked. This IS a windows phone bug,
no other device we have does this but at least it is fixed.

It depends on what else is going on with the computer. What software are you running on your computer? What is the mfg and model of the Gateway? Who is your ISP and did they supply the Gateway or are you using one behind their Gateway?

Check the IPv4 settings for the adapter in question. Also you can go into Command Terminal and do a "ipconfig /all >ipconfig.txt". Make sure that you are in your Documents or Downloads directory when you run the command. Otherwise it will end up in the System32 folder. Paste the information from the text file to a post on this thread.

 

I have attached the ipconfig /all. The internet provider is comcast business and there is a Netgear Prosafe VPN Firewall model FVS318 that is on attached to the comcast box. Like i mentioned I install the another PC here and it grab the correct DHCP settings.

Your computer is getting the IP from the Gateway, which you may be able to change. As for the Printer, you are going to have to assign it a Static IP for the same IP scheme as the computer.

 

The other computers have a gateway of 192.168.1.1 which is the the correct gateway and I am trying to figure out why this one PC is grabbing the Gateway 10.1.10.1. The printer needs to keep its current IP address or the other computers will not e able to print to it.

 

If you have what is called an "Edge Router" after the ISP gateway like a lot of us. Most will not pass through between the two networks, unless you have the ability of using a Static DNS and Gateway. If it is picking up say your ISP DNS. Devices will not know how to find each other between the two routers.

I have a Ted 5000 on my ISP Gateway, because I do not have anymore Ethernet jacks left on my switch or Edge Router. As long as it keeps the Static DHCP info, I can find it from behind my Cisco through Wifi or Ethernet.

The only reason that I can think of why it is grabbing it, is possibly the IPTables for the ISP Gateway has it assigned for some reason. Really hard to tell without physically looking at everything.

If you have a iPhone or iPad, you can use Net Analyzer or IT Tools to take a look at all devices on the network, along with the ARP info. There are also the same type of tools for Android OS devices.

 

Log in to the Router .. and See what devices are connected to it.. I am pretty sure both your printer and computer are connected to different gateways.
It may sound stupid .. But can you please click on wireless icon in bottom left and see how many networks are showing there.. U may have 2 networks by same name/
