  1. Windows 10 system image can't access network location. File explorer can access same...

I have a Windows 10 VM that I want to create a system image for.

I have an SMB share setup in FreeNAS. In File Explorer I can navigate to \\freenas.home.lan\Windows. I have full permissions to the share as I should.

In Control Panel I go to Backup and Restore, Create a system image, choose network location, and enter the same path of \\freenas.home.lan\Windows. Except here it asks me for a username and password. I don't need one to access the share. Regardless I enter the username and password of the user that owns the dataset being shared. It doesn't work. I've tried allowing guest access to the share, only allowing guest access, I've set root as the owner and a specific user. Nothing seems to work.

I tried mapping the network share to Z:. I thought I would be able to save the image to hard disk and then choose Z:, but no disks show.

This is pretty frustrating. How can I access the drive, or can I save to NFS shares instead of SMB? Do I use a third party image tool?

    Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK

    Quick Access Crashes Explorer

    Hi Bill,

Quick Access is a new feature in Windows 10 File Explorer navigation pane which helps users quickly navigate to locations which are frequently used. However, if you're having issues with Quick Access, you can try to disable and enable it. To disable Quick
    Access, follow these steps:

    • Type File Explorer Option in the search box.
    • Click on File Explorer Options.
    • Under General tab, choose This PC in the Open File Explorer to: drop down menu.
    • Uncheck Show recently used files in Quick access and
Show frequently use folders in Quick access.
    • Click Apply an OK.
    • Restart the computer and re-enable Quick access.

Let us know how it goes after performing the suggested troubleshooting steps.

Windows 10 system image can't access network location. File explorer can access same...

One computer cannot access other network computers.

So I've tried every troubleshooting step I know:
    • Double checked that Net Bios was enabled
    • Ran a bunch of network commands:
      • flushed DNS
      • registered dns
      • pinged and located the named computers successfully
    • Reset my router to factory settings

Nothing works when I try to access via explorer. I'm still baffled by the fact that every other computer can access each other AND access this computer. It's just the outgoing connection from this machine that doesn't work.

    Any thoughts?
