Windows 10: Windows 10 System Restore and Dell OS Recovery Drives

Hi, Should Windows System Protection Restore Points be enabled for the "Image" and "DELLSUPPORT" drives that appear under "Available Drives"? I have also created "Program Files" and "ProgramData" folders on my secondary hard drive to install some larger programs on, should I have System Restore enabled for the secondary hard drive? I have also moved the locations of my Desktop, Documents, Pictures, Music and Videos folders to my secondary hard drive, using the "Location" tab in the Properties windows of those folders. Dell SupportAssist OS Recovery

I'm Jin, a fellow Windows 10 user and an independent advisor. I can see that you intend to restore your system using Dell SupportAssist OS Recovery.

If you are using SupportAssist OS recovery version 5.0, use the Reset to Factory Setting option. This will install the operating system and software that your computer had installed from the factory.

Windows 10 Recovery Drive

Hi,

I'm having the same problem Bryancarter50 had initially.

I have a new Dell Inspiron with Windows 10 pre-installed.

I've followed the steps listed in How to create a Recovery Drive for reinstalling Windows 10 above using a 64 GB Cruzer Glide USB; I check the box requesting that system files be copied also.

Initially the dialogue box shows progress, displaying "Creating the Recovery Drive" and "backing up system files".

But after several minutes this error message appears:

We can't create the recovery drive

A problem occurred while creating the recovery drive

Would appreciate your help.

Recovery Drive

Thank you for posting your concern. In some cases, this could happen if you created a system restore point on your computer. Windows will use the recovery drive to revert to the previous time where your computer is working properly, or where you created
it. Please don't attempt to put any files in the recovery drive or the restore process will fail. To give you more suggestion and helpful information, we would like to more about your computer. Please answer the question below:

• Did you make any changes to your computer before this issue occurs?
• Have you install Windows Update before getting the Recovery drive?
• Which version of Windows are you using? To check it, follow the steps through this
  link.
  

In the meantime, you can check the files inside the recovery drive and confirm if there are essential files that you need.
