Windows 10 Taskbar Right Click Context Menu not working, through multiple windows updates...

It's a common problem. I right click on an icon in the task bar but my selection won't work. If I select the app/program itself from the context menu nothing happens, nothing opens and there is no error message. When I select a recently saved file for example, if I right click on Excel or Word I get the error message: "The item you selected in unavailable. It might have been moved, renamed, or removed. Do you want to remove it from the list?" This happens for new, recent, or old files.

It's been like this for months, since near the start of 2020. As you can guess I've had this problem through multiple Windows updates. From searching the forums a Windows update was credited for solving this issue on multiple occasions. After going through numerous Windows updates I don't think that solution is ever going to work for me.

I've tried the command prompt solutions found here to no avail. Restarting Windows/explorer does not work obviously. Ran DISM and SFC and no integrity violations were found. Ran the Power Shell command and that did not work either. I didn't bother with Step 4 create a new admin account because that's a cop out and not an actual solution. If I wanted to spend time setting up a new account I'd reformat my PC.

What's going on here? Why does this issue keep happening for people? Why does a Windows update fix it for some but not others? Could this be an issue with hardware and/or drivers? I don't see how when everything else on my system works perfectly. Windows runs smoothly except for this absurdly annoying issue.

    :)

    Feature suggestion: Add right-click menu

Suggestion: Please add a Windows 7 Jump-List and/or right-click menu to the GPU-Z icon in the Windows taskbar. Possible menus in it would be "Exit" and "About GPU-Z...".
Maybe also "Switch to tab 1/Switch to tab 2/Switch to videocard 1/Switch to videocard 2" too.
Examples of programs that have such menus are ICQ, Skype, AIM.

NOTE: It seems for a right-click menu, Windows 7 is not needed - it works on WinXP and Vista too.
But even a Windows 7 Jump-list may be good enough.
    What do you think?

Right click context menu of Windows 10 is excrutiatingly slow in taskbar

    Hello,

Running Windows 10, latest update (08.08.) and latest drivers on an Asus Zenbook 14 (i5 CPU). I recently had to restore Windows, ever since then the context menu of some applications is extremely slow.

When I right click on apps on the taskbar, they usually open the context menu of every application ( un/pin, recent documents, other settings).

This works fine for all applications in less than a second EXCEPT for Excel, Powerpoint and Outlook. Whenever I try to open the context menu of Office Apps it takes 20-30 seconds to open the recently used documents.

I've already re-installed Office and Onedrive to no avail. Any suggestions?

Taskbar R-Click Context Menu Not Working Properly

Since installing Windows 10 version 2004 earlier this week on one of my PCs, I’ve been unable to right click certain taskbar shortcut icons to bring up the associated context menus on a local account. I have an administrator account on the same PC, but that
account doesn’t experience the problem. So I’m a bit puzzled as to how to fix.

The taskbar icons affected on the local account are the ones pinned there as shortcuts.
All other items on the taskbar (i.e., Start, Search, and entire Notification Area) function normally—they all display context menus when right clicked.

Based on research, I’ve noticed that taskbar problems frequently occur with Windows updates. I’ve attempted to rectify the situation using some of the recommendations provided, such as stopping/restarting the explorer.exe process and running DISM and SFC
scans (both reported everything OK), but to no avail.

As mentioned, the right click taskbar context menus all work properly on my administrator account—it’s just the local account (for one of my family members) that displays the problem.

Any suggestions for resolving would be appreciated.
