Windows 10: Windows-10 tells me I'm not connected to the internet. Sorry, MS- I AM!

The last coupla months I have been unable to update Windows. Then I noticed my "internet" ethernet icon is no longer in the task-bar. Yes, Ethernet. None of that Wifi nonsense on this machine!Now, I notice that even the Windows Store tells me I am not connected to the internet.Even Edge and Bing tell me I am not connected!Of course, I'd love to reply to Settings/Troubleshooters, but even THAT tells me "You don't seem to be connected to the Internet". Sorry, guys! My internet connection runs just fine with Firefox and Duckduckgo. If I didn't know any better, I'd say I was running Linux. W

Upgrading to Windows 10 from windows 7 and losing internet connection

A couple of days ago I upgraded my desktop to windows 10 after getting one of those MS prompts. However now I cannot access the internet and suspect the drivers from the Gigabyte GA-MA790X-ud4 motherboard does not support the internet drivers required. Searching the manufacturers website has not given me any joy either. Can anyone offer any suggestions?
