    Windows 10 Temp folder filling up with thousands of files


    I have been having issues with the Disk going to 100% and basically making my Windows 10 system (Version 1903 OS Build 18362.720) unusable.

    I tried many many potential solutions to no avail. Search the internet many times.

    I notice when I ran antivirus scan, the disk usage would drop to normal but it would go back to 100% usage somewhere between a few minutes and a few hours.

    Playing around, noticed that the Temp direct was jammed with thousands of files. Clearing them out also made the disk usage light go out and the system would work fine for awhile, until the temp directory filled back up.

    Some of the files were as follows:
    dd_vs_setup_bootstrapper_decompression_log
    mat-debug-184
    18e190413af045db88dfbd29609eb877.db.ses

    and dozens of folders filled with files.

    Any suggestion would be deeply appreciated, as this has been sticking me for months now. Many Thanks in advance. Frank

    Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

    Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK

    The temp folder provides work space for programs. Yes they can be deleted. We suggest that you follow the steps provided by Sangeeta Sarkar on how to delete Temp files on this

    link    . You may also type in the search box Disk Cleanup and hit enter. It will evaluate your disk and give you a list of folders sizes that can be deleted.
