Windows 10: Windows 10 three 3 Program folders!?

Hey there!


I'm a film and video producer and I'm supposed to be using my computer mostly for editing, but it seems that I'm spending more time trying to make it work than anything else. So what is my problem?


First off: non of the Windows topics matched my problem, as prompted to choose I just picked the one I thought was the least not unlike what I'm going through.


I Have three 3 Program folders on my C: root on Windows 10:

1. The Program x86 for 32-bit applications
2. One Program folder for the 64-bit applications created 6th of june 2017 the same day I bought my computer
   
3. Another Program folder for the 64-bit applications created on 7th december 2019.
4. Apart from the creation date the Program folders described in 2. and 3. are identical; the exact same name Program the exact same size, the exact same content, the exact same number of files distributed in the exact same number of folders.

Just to emphasize, the only difference is the creation dates, and there are no applications installed the same date as or even close to the creation of the 2019 folder someone suggested the ghost folder might have been created by an app during installation.


I have done the Disk Cleaning trick and there are no hidden uppgrade files. Would have been surprising if there were since I bought this thing with a brand new W10 licens.


The content size of each Program folder is i bit over 30GB, but when I try to copy the 2019 Program folder to another disk the size of the copied files suddenly pops up to a bit over 60GB. This is just about the size of both folders combined.


So what is this?

Just another way for Microsoft to damage the mental health of the Windows 10 users? No? OK, but it seems completely irrational and I can't think of any good reason for W10 to behave like this. Is it some strange uknown limit of content size in a single folder forcing W10 to create some kind of parallell ghost folder to split the oversize content on two seemingly identical and intermergable Program folders or what!?


If there is a rational explanation I would really like to hear it. If this is a standard solution it shouldn't be this hard to find the information I need to understand it, if it is an abnormity It shouldn't be this hard to get the information I need to fix it. So what do you got for me, Microsofters?

Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK

Why did the startup window get cleared?

I didn't missed any step, the list was gone and gone , even after using lot of programs the programs were not listed in that list.

 

Change Folder View Layout in Windows 10


"uhm that method does not work. i want to set folder view as List as default instead Details for all folders"
Did you download and run Brink's .bat file in Step 1 ? Lacking that, look at the screens in post 3. In Step 5 'folders of this type' defaults to each of the Windows templates for Pictures, Music, etc. If you want ALL folders to have the same List view, r-click any folder in each of the 5 folders under This PC (Desktop does not apply) and hit 'Customize this folder'. Set to 'Optimize this folder for General Items". Then follow the screen in post 3 using List instead of Details in Step 1 and you should be good to go.
