Windows 10 Time Incorrect - Solution

I have noticed many people complaining about Windows 10 not adjusting UTC (BIOS) to local time zone (OS), and I am offering a workaround.

The situation is that upon boot, Windows 10 does not update from UTC time set in the BIOS to preferred local time zone of the OS. This is typical to Linux/Windows dual-boot systems. Linux and previous Windows versions do not have an issue with this, but Windows 10 Pro (at least) does.

The work around is to Create Basic Task in Task Scheduler. You can call it TimeSynchronization.

Trigger > "When the computer starts"

    Action > "Start a program"

    Start a Program...Browse to and select C:\Windows\System32\sc.exe

    Arguments > "start w32time task_started" <- Without the quotes

Finish > Check the "Open the Properties dialog for task when I click Finish"

Select "Run with highest privileges and click "Change User or Group..."

    Click "Advanced" > "Find Now"

Choose "LOCAL SERVICE" > OK > OK > OK

The next time you boot the time should be corrected.

I am not sure why the similarly scheduled task in the Task Scheduler\Microsoft\Windows\Time Synchronization doesn't work. It should, and does if manually indicated to Run. Perhaps a bug? In any case, this workaround should get your time sorted out.

    I hope this is helpful.

    Cheers,

    Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK

My Lumia 1020 has suddenly started displaying the incorrect time. It is 1 hour and 15 minutes behind the correct time. Can anyone suggest a solution? Thank you.
