Windows 10: Windows 10 Time separator in Finland, cahnaged from ":" --> "."

Long story...

My workstation was updated from Windows 8 .1 to Windows 10.

I have been making loads of exports from my customer environments to create reports to customers.

I usually have done exports in csv format , moved the files to my workstation and opened them in Excel.

I noticed that new Windows server 2016 seems to have changed the Finnish Time separator format from 16:15:00 --> 16.15.00

thae date format is used in finland using dot "." so now the date and time looks like this 2.4.2019 14.53

Normal Finnish date and time presentation is using dot "." as date separator and doubledot ":" as time separator.

I had therefore some problems when reading csv files that had date and Time in one column.

I did try to find a way to get back the original : to time in Windows server 2016, but couldn't find a way.

Then i noticed that in my Windows 10 workstation i have possibility to change my time separator to "." (so there was the : and . to choose from)

Ok then I chose the "." as separator, and i could read the Windows Server 2016 time format in Excel correctly.

But then i later on, i had export from Windows Server 2012, and there was again the normal ":" as time separator.

Ok, I go and change the time separator back to ":" in my workstation, But it was not possible, there was no more possibilty to change the Time separator to anything else than dot ".".

I guess that since my workstation was updated from windows 8.1 the time separator was still ":" and there for I had possibility to change it to "." but it was not possible to change it back.


How can this be possible that MS changes the existing old standard national preferences?

And Is there some way to gain back original Finnish Time separator ":"


I do the listings daily bases, so i dont want to make any functions or scripts in excel to correct the MS change in time separator.

And in Excel , I need to compare the date/times, and if the conversion is not automatic, the date/time fields are just text. and cant be compared to dates.

I do not want any guidance how to fix the problem with time and dates in Excel, I just want the Time separator back to Normal ":"
