Windows 10 to 8.1 back to 10 now missing storage spaces

    Hi All,

1.So I had windows 8.1 with storages spaces working fine
2.removed my windows 8.1 HD and put in a new HD installing windows 10
3.On windows 10 storage spaces is great and working fine
    4. I noticed that I forgot to back up something on my windows 8.1 so I swapped the win8 HD back in and booted
    5. Windows 8 does not see the storage space (which I fine because I didnt need to use it then)
    6. Swapped back the windows 10. storage spaces is missing!!

    7. Reinstalled windows 10 storage space is missing!
I can find the drives in device manager (its attached to a PERCH310 card but setup as JBOD)
But disk manager doesnt see it at all and neither does Storage pools.

Am screwed here? its a 4 array with 1 parity (2tb drives each)

    Thanks!

    :)

  2. Windows 10 Storage Spaces Improvements?

I have Windows 10 Home (auto upgrade from Windows 8.1). I have auto updates checked and when I manually checked for updates, it said I had everything up to date. I updated my Storage Spaces 8.1 to 10 with the Powershell command >Update-StoragePool -FriendlyName
"Storage pool". That returned without error. However, I do not see changes in the Windows 10 Home Storage Spaces GUI for the new commands to optimize drive or remove a drive.

Are these new Storage Space commands in the Windows 10 Home Storage Spaces GUI or are they new Powershell commands?

I don't see any differences in my updated Storage Spaces GUI from 8.1 to 10. How can I verify that my Storage Spaces was properly updated from 8.1 to 10?

Appreciate the effort the team is making on Storage Spaces and really want to take advantage of the new features mentioned in the November update. Thanks for any help.

  3. Windows Task Bar unresponsive

Reverting back to 7 is not possible, who would of guessed? God damn wheres the **** support for this ****!

I have also tried to use an Ethernet cable to connect to the internet and the same or similar problems arise (not being able to access the flashing or none flashing taskbar with along with the windows associated programs). I suppose the direction windows
is going, that internet is just a useless thing of the past??

Windows 11 or "9" must be the answer to the inbred thinking to windows 10. AWFUL COMPANY AND PRODUCT! thanks for the damn support Windows 10 to 8.1 back to 10 now missing storage spaces ;) i feel appreciated as a customer.

Are you using a RAID setup? If so which version? Could be the answer to your question is Yes. I've not seen RAID appreciating changes in its makeup unless replacing a failed drive.

No raid on the raid card its really acting just as an extender so I can add more drives.
Storage space setting is 4 dives with 1 parity.

    Is that what you're asking?

More slow progress. If anyone has this happen to them Don't reset. I ended up using ReclaiMe Storage Spaces to find that the drive is healthy and to export a raid.xml From there I used ReclaiMe Pro import the raid.xml and now i'm writing my 5TB (storage space)worth of stuff into another 5TB drive(single drive) as a VHDX. If this to go back in to windows 10, mount the vhdx and then rebuild the storage space and move all the data back in. *smh* what a pain.
