Hi all, nice to meet you!

Just installed Windows 10 TP x64 in Fusion on a MP 5.1 (2012) running OSX 10.10. using:

    - 4 processors
    - 2048MB RAM
    - 1024MB Video Ram

Very, very easy install and this VM runs like clockwork! Very happy to preview Windows 10 in a very safe way!

At first glance it looks great and works very snappy!

BTW who the h*ll stole my Maverick nickname from the EightForums! *Mad

    Cheers *Wink

    :)

Problem Re-Activating Windows 10 after doing a clean install on Mac Pro 2013

    Situation:

    • Running Activated Windows 8.1 Pro on a Mac Pro (Late 2013) in a Bootcamp partition.
    • Upgraded to Windows 10 and Windows showed as Activated.
    • Did a Clean install of Windows 10 which showed as Activated
    • From OS X using VMware Fusion 7 configured a Virtual Machine using the Boot Camp Partition as the system Disk (did NOT import)
    • Windows at first showed NOT Activated when running within VM Fusion but continue to show Activated when Booting into Windows directly.
    • Eventually Windows showed Activated in both situations (Running Windows directly and Through VM Fusion using bootcamp partitiion)
    • Did a Complete Wipe of Both OS X and Windows 10.
    • Did Clean Installed OSX
    • Did Clean Install of Windows 10 in a new bootcamp partition
    • Windows will now NOT Activate.
I include the information about VM Fusion to see if this has caused a problem with the Activation on the new clean install of Windows 10.

My understanding is that the Windows 10 upgrade will be LOCKED to the first machine it was activate on, which would be the Mac Pro booting directly into Windows.

I have read in several posts that the Activation Servers may be overloaded with registrations and to try either

    • slmgr.vbs /ato
    • slmgr.vbs -rearm ( and then Reboot)
    Neither works.

I have also tried Reinstalling Windows 8.1 Pro and activating it. (Which works fine)

I then upgrading to Windows 10, and the system will not Activate.

    Please advise on next steps.

    Regards

    Windows 10 TP x64 (9841) in Fusion @ Mac Pro 5.1 OSX 10.10

Updated my Windows 10 TP in a VM to Build 9879 without any glitsh. Running very smooth and snappy atm and no issues at all. Overnight I'll let Windows perform it's scheduled maintenance and auto updates.

VM's are the best playgrounds imaginable! *Cool

The dreaded 9879 BSOD seen plenty of those over the last week, no more, I got rid of it and will wait till the next release.

  7. Hi I have Build 9879 running under Bootcamp on a MacBook Air 2013 fairly stably at the moment but I have followed the advice from Paul Thurrott to uninstall 4 of the updates:

"The four updates you need to uninstall are KB3019269, KB3018943, KB3016725, KB3016656, so start with the first one—KB3019269—by copying and pasting that text into the search box in the Installed Updates control panel. Then right-click it and choose Uninstall from the pop-up menu."

Update KB3019269 in particular was associated with frequent File Explorer crashes. I cant say the system is completely stable as I haven't been using it as my primary machine but it is after all more of an alpha than a beta. I am on the Fast Track for Previews, although that appears to be irrelevant now as there will possibly be no more for the TP, certainly this year, and possibly none once the Consumer Preview drops.

I've been running TP as primary OS (through bootcamp) since October. I did not need to un-install any updates - works fine. I had no explorer crashes and only BSOD right at the start when shutting down which was long ago fixed. I'm running 9901 in VM which also works fine although I've not spent so much time on it.

"Two facts we do know for sure, though: First, if you install build 9901 you won't be able to upgrade it to the next build -- you'll have to re-install from an ISO. Second, Microsoft isn't overly concerned about people getting their hands on this latest version. On Sunday, company spokesman Gabe Aul tweeted "How could we be upset about lots of people wanting to try our new stuff? We'd prefer you stick to official builds though." Cue the conspiracy theorists.""

    Hi there

I'm using VMWARE -- I'm not getting BSOD's but I can't add USB devices -- if a USB device is connected at power on - it recognizes it but connecting afterwards the VM shows the USB device is connected (for example a USB stick) but the computer doesn't see it.

(Build 9879 -- I can't install build 9901 at all --get CPU error !!! at power on )

    Cheers

I have the setting "Ask what to do" for all USB devices. When firing the VM you'll be asked what to do with the USB devices it finds.

    Cheers...

EDIT: Build 9901 is a leaked version, there'll not be offered any additional updates, so waste of time imho!
