Windows 10: Windows 10 unable to access shared folder of windows 7

On a windows 10, I am not able to access a shared folder from a local machine, although network sharing and discovery settings are set to enable. Also, I can ping the remote machine. That machine is windows 7, and other windows 7 machines are able to access that.

Should I do something more for windows 10?

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK

Map Windows 7 Shared Folder to Win 95

I am able to map the folder shared by the Windows 7 machine on my XP Pro machine without problem.
I cannot get the Windows 95 machine to map the folder shared by the Windows 7 machine.
The Windows 95 machine will map a drive shared by an XP machine just fine.

 

File sharing between Windows 7 and Windows XP

I have 2 computers... one is using windows 7, the other is on windows xp. I want to share a folder, but the share button is greyed out, so I have to use advanced sharing. I click on advanced sharing and check the box that says "share this folder" and click ok. Then I go to my XP machine, go to map network drive and point it to the folder, but when I try to access it, it says "Z:\ is not accessable. Access denied."

Uhh... how do I fix this so I can use my shared folder?
