Windows 10: Windows 10 update 1903 freezes during install

Hello. I've been wanting to get my old laptop up and running smoothly in case my current one decides to die. I tried updating to the latest version of Windows 10 (1903) but it kept freezing at 48%. I've tried many things to get it working again. The update goes well up until the 48% mark when the spinning circle freezes and the HDD light stops blinking. I've left the machine running for well over 3 hours but it remains frozen.

• I decided to do a fresh install but it's still freezing up at 48%.
• I've run the Windows RAM and Disk checks and they're both fine.
• I've used the update assistant but that didn't help at all.
• I've put a fresh install of Windows 10 on an SSD just in case the HDD was causing issues but the problem still persists.

If I can't get Windows to work, I'll have to install Linux seeing as the current version (1803) will be going out of service in a few days.

What more can I do to fix this?

Windows Vista Wont Install Freezes?

had the same problem, freezes and long installation including each step loading, in my case a bios update helped.

It's basically what I mentioned above, small issues here and there ,but nothing to end your day.. for the most part.

I know it's anecdotal, but for my experience 95% of the time it's perfectly fine. The issues I've run into wouldn't be enough for me to roll back , but they would be enough (had I not installed it yet) ,to avoid it for another couple weeks which is why I'm suggesting it to the OP

windows xp installation and dual core am

could someone please list the steps they follow to install windows with a dual core processor and windows xp service pack to. I'm reletively new to amd dual core and i feel i'm missing a step. All help will be appreciated. thanx
