Windows 10: Windows 10 Update 2004 from 1909

Hi


I have been trying to update my system from Windows 10 version 1909 OSbuild 18363.959 too Version 2004.


I have tried about 6 different times and get a different error code that updates couldnt be installed but I should try again.

the current error code given on my last attempt was 0xc1900130

Previously the error codes have been 0x80004005 and 0x8024a205

Ive wasted several days now trying to get this update installed.


My system is Acer Aspire V3-574T, Processor i5-5257U 2.70GHZ x2, 16 GB RAM, 1TB hard drive , 40% full.


Anyone any idea how I get around this ? Ive tried both doing manually through the settings-Updates-download and install AND via downloading the Windows 10 Update Assistant.

Windows update 2004 from 1909

Hi all.

Yesterday I upgraded windows 10 from 1909 to 2004, after many hours of downloading and installing I finally got there.

But I came across an error, after finally getting the installation finalised I was taken back to the update window where I was presented with another upgrade "Features update for windows 2004" or similar words, I started to install this but halfway through
it crashed, so I rebooted and tried again, this time it finished the download, rebooted then checked windows Version, to my amazement I still had Windows 1909 installed.

So why is this, and has anybody got any answers to this.

We understand the concern as you are unable to update your PC from Windows 10 1909 to 2004 build.
In order to get clarity and to assist you accordingly, please reply with the answers to the questions below:

• What is the error code and message from the Windows Update history? (Press
  Windows + I key to open Settings > Click on
  Updates & Security > Select Windows Updates > Click on
  View update history > click on the error)
  
• What is the make and model of the PC?
  

Meanwhile, we would suggest you to perform a
Software and Hardware clean boot and then try to updating Windows 10 1909 to 2004.



You may, refer the article How to perform a clean boot in Windows.
A ‘clean boot’ starts Windows with a minimal set of drivers and startup programs.



Note: After you finish troubleshooting, follow the section
Reset the computer to start normally after clean boot troubleshooting
to reset the computer to start normally.



Steps to perform hardware clean boot.

1. Press Windows key + R. This will open Run. Alternatively, you can go to Start and search for
   Run.
2. In Run dialog box, type devmgmt.msc and hit Enter.
   
3. Now expand the Display adapters, Printers,
   Sound, video and game controllers.
4. Now right click on the drivers inside the section and click on
   Disable.
5. If asked for restart click on Restart Later and disable all the drivers.
   
6. Close the Device Manager window and then restart the PC.

Also unplug all external devices connected to the PC except Mouse & keyboard.

Update from 1909 to 2004 fail for Error 0xc1900209

Hi, that looks as if it's a UEFI installation.

I'm wondering where your 16Mb Reserved partition is...

Apart from the partition issue, I suggested you could try upgrading after a clean boot.
