Windows 10: Windows 10 Update 2004 - PDF print problems in embedded IE browser.

Since the update of Windows 10 V 2004 our customers cannot use the PDF print option in an embedded Internet Explorer 11 in our application. We understand that with V 2004 some IE security issues have been resolved, however, we think the activeX component for PDF printing should still work.
This has also been reported to Adobe

Unfortunately we cannot switch to Edge, so this is not a feasible workaround.


Anybody else facing this issue and found a way how to enable the print option?

Print to PDF missing in Printer List

Hi William,

We suggest that you disable and re-enable the Print to PDF feature. Here are the steps:

• Click on the Start menu and type in Windows Features.
• Choose Turn Windows features on or off.
• On the next window, find Microsoft Print to PDF and disable it. Click
  OK to save changes.
• Restart your PC.
• Repeat the same steps to re-enable Microsoft Print to PDF.

In print to pdf my browser is gone

This just started happening all of a sudden. One moment I was pdf-ing without any issues, and then I was no longer able to pdf using print to pdf with a browser visible as it normally is.

But I just discovered something very pertinent. I added a new user to my Windows 10 desktop, and that user has the normal print to pdf feature WITH a browser embedded So the question now is why do I see a browser embedded in 1 user, but not the other.
BOTH USERS ARE ADMINISTRATORS.

This is what it looks like in my defective user without the browser embedded in print to pdf.

 

PDF Printing Problem With Edge

In order to assist you better could you please confirm a couple of things:

• How did you try to print?
• What happens when you try to print?
• Did you receive any error message?

Nevertheless, I suggest you to follow the steps below and check if this helps:

• Open the PDF file which you want to print.
• Click on the Ellipses which is at the top right hand corner of the Edge Browser.
• Select Print option and then click ok.
