Window's 10 update - always frozen around the 90% mark

    Hi,

I stopped my windows updates because at one point it started to just freeze at the 90% mark - I would do an over night update and it would be frozen at the same mark 8hr's later. So I would have to shut it down, it would go back to a date before the update occurred and in 2-3 days attempt the same update. My work around was to disable updates through services - this isn't a solution its just a temporary fix to buy time so I am not doing an update and go back every 2-3 days which eat's a lot of my time and can't be good for my system.

Has anyone had a similar problem and found a solution to this?

For context I am using an HP that I bought at a Costco about 4-5 years ago. While it's old it still runs pretty smoothly aside from these newer updates.
The current version of windows 10 is - 17763.
    CPU: i7-6500U intel
    GPU: NIVIDA GeForce 940M
    RAM: 16GB
    1HD: 1.8TB
    2HD: 26GB

    :)

    Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK

Window's 10 update - always frozen around the 90% mark

    AMD FX OC'ers Club

That's what the auto setting will do since you're over the 1333 mark it jumps to the next step which isn't listed or officially supported I assume by that ram.

At this point though I would suggest dropping the multi one step or .5 so that we can get something stable and possibly take the heat issue out of the picture for now.
