Windows 10: Windows 10 update and partition problems

Split from this thread.Can Someone Please Help me ASAP , I have Several Problems1 . I have Windows 10 installed on 2 Different Volumes , Volume 3 and also Volume 6. I want to get rid of Volume 6 .2 , I have Tried a number of times downloading KB5011543 , which is a Cumulative Update Preview for Windows 10 21H2 , It Fails every Time and I have no Idea WHY!!!!!PLEASE HELP!

no, you can't go back..
I suggest creating a backup image of your os drive

 

W7 Hard drive partition issue

to get rid of that 100 meg windows partition that setup creates for you on a new install on a blank hdd:

- press shift+f10 when on the partition management screen in setup <-- this opens a command prompt
- diskpart <-- start the windows command line partition management tool
- list disk <--- list the installed hdds in this computer for the next step
- select disk 0 <- might have to replace 0 with the number of the correct disk
- clean <-- this will erase all data on the disk you selected one step up- dont use the wrong disk!
- create partition primary <- creates a primary partition taking up all space on the drive, adjust the command if necessary
- exit, exit to exit diskpart and the command prompt
- click refresh in partition manager and select your newly created partition and install to that

For the convenience of not having to use the installation media for startup repairs. But you should be able to use your installation media to do whatever the recovery partition does(including startup repairs). AFAIK. I could be wrong about that though.

I'm not sure if I follow you there. But if you clean install Windows 10 there will be at least 3 partitions.

• (EFI System Partition)
• (Primary Partition)
• (Recovery/OEM Partition)

If you install from an OEM installation media there might(should?) be 4 partitions. Since there might(should?) be a Recovery partition and an OEM partition.
