Windows 10: Windows 10 update deleted all my files from desktop and downloades

this most recent update was a pain in the butt.. all my files deleted and without warning. that being said after I was able to find them in the windows old folder.. cool moved them all back to desktop and documents ans downloads folder in current windows after update. all good i thought but this afternoon I log on and all the files are gone again.. ****.. only one account on my pc, so no where for things to go.


so I check windows old again and it's empty too.. this is beyond a pain now. hundreds of work files, projects and pictures gone. while some mostly work stuff is backed up in 2 places all the other stuff isn't not to mention recent files.. so what now? why in the hell would this update not come with a big warning?? and why after I moved it all back is it gone again after a few days..

Step 1 - I upgraded to Win 10 and lost all my files on Desktop.

Step 2 - Found the files in Network - USers- Desktop

copied all files again to desktop.

Step 3- Restarted my machine again and lost desktop files again.

Step 4 - As suggested did the following as listed below but dont find my files.

• Press “Windows + E”, open This PC/Computer
• Open Local Disc C, open Windows.old
• Click on Users, select your User name
• Go to desktop folder

Cant find my files. Why is Win 10 deleted files again and again from Desktop ?.

To stop the download, uninstall the KB3035583 update (under "Control Panel > Windows Update > Installed Updates").


To get rid of the C:\$Windows.~BT folder:

• Right-click on your C: drive.
• Select "Properties".
• Click on [ Disk Cleanup ]
• After the initial scan: If you have a [ Clean up system files ] button, click it and wait for the second scan to finish.
• Scroll down the list and look for "Temporary Windows installation files" (its size should be in the gigabytes range); check the box.
• Click on [ OK ] to start the clean-up.

^This, then reboot and go to manually update windows. Find KB3035583 in the list of available updates, right-click and "Hide this update" so it doesn't get installed again next go around.
