Windows 10: Windows 10 Update does not finish updates

Windows Update always says that 2 updates are needed, but everytime i download them and restart the computer, they never finish, and that causes my pc to last up to an hour to turn on and off.

Well just noticed a pretty large one pop up coming in at 914MB, seems it makes some pretty serous updates.

Windows 10 fails to update


When you finish testing the Avast suggestion, make sure that you restart your machine.

Then if the issue persists, please return to the trouble shooting list in post# 89

I think there are three steps that remain; the WU troubleshooter, reset WU components, and manual WU reset.

 

Microsoft to make Windows 10 updates mandatory

Well, at the moment at least, you can choose to defer upgrades. Under Settings > Windows Updates > Advanced options you need to check the box labeled "Defer upgrades". What does that do? Good question. The answer I've found might illuminate it to a degree.

I hear this only applies to Pro and Enterprise editions. But I can't verify that.
