Windows 10: Windows 10 Update Error 0x80240439

I didn't know I had to restart after disabling driver updates. When I found it didn't resolve the problem, I re-enabled it, which is why I have driver updates now. As for the troubleshooter, I ran the old one I downloaded and it didn't fix anything, but instead said that it hadn't fixed some kind of service. I can't recreate that as now it will find nothing to fix.

 

I also can't recreate getting windows update to work... damn...

 

I think you will need a brighter mind than mine to help you find the root cause of your current issue.

I'm no expert at this windows update stuff either LOL...

To clear the update queue, you could try running the following commands, then try looking for updates again...

net stop BITS
ipconfig /flushdns
del "%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Application Data\Microsoft\Network\Downloader\qmgr0.dat"
del "%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Application Data\Microsoft\Network\Downloader\qmgr1.dat"
net start BITS

net stop wuauserv
net start wuauserv

 

Upon trying to do del "%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Application Data\Microsoft\Network\Downloader\qmgr0.dat" , system cannot find the path specified

 

Ooo I'm now getting a Level 2 Technician from Microsoft to help me *Biggrin

 

OIC, that must be something that has changed in the latter releases....

It's now goes something like this:

...for the record I wrote a script to reset updates (hopefully clear any conflicts) should the problem persist. A slight update to that posted in the other thread...WUReset.zip

BTW: What did the Level 2 MS guy say?

 

Thanks for the script, but when I try to run it red text appears and the window quickly shuts down
EDIT: I'm an idiot nevermind... Had to copy and paste script in a administrator powershell

 

Make sure you reboot after running to be safe.

 

No luck there, but thanks. I'm now on with the Level 2 technician, but it turns out I can't be in the insider build if I want his help, so I'm clean installing Version 1703 Build 15063.0 again. Oh well - only be the fourth time xD

 

Turns out, and I'm feeling like this is correct, that the Creators Update maybe isn't compatible with my PC for some reason. 5th clean install we go!!!!!!

 

I think you may need to open powershell as admin and run this first... (i.e before running PS1 scripts.)

Set-ExecutionPolicy RemoteSigned
...(for future reference as you are clean installling... )
