Windows 10: Windows 10 update error - please wait loop

my HP windows 10 laptop died during an update and every time I turn it on, it shows me the hp logo with a black background whilst initially saying "please wait" before saying "please wait while we install a system update". Then, it automatically shuts down and automatically turns on again to repeat the process.I've seen the self-help videos where they tell you to force shut it twice and get it to repair itself but my computer doesn't reach the stage where the loading circle of dots appears, it says those two phrases above and shuts itself down before starting up again. Win10: windows update stuck at never ending loop ?

When in win10:

• Update&security -> Windows update -> Finding update... .... .... ....

Planning to download the latest Win10.ISO (vers.1803) and manually update:
- Then wait that my ordered new SSD arrives and clone the old HDD to it.
