Windows 10: Windows 10 Update Fails to update driver for AMS Radeon HD 7340 Driver

I have been going around in circles with this so any help greatly appreciated.


I recently did a Windows 10 Clean Install and everything fine except for my display. Initially Device Manager indicated I had a basic Microsoft Driver for my monitor. That's no good as I can't adjust brightness etc.


Initially I thought the solution was to download the beta AMD Catalyst Control Centre but their community support tell me to let Windows Update do it once I uninstall the AMD CCC. I have done that but Windows Update refuses to find an updated driver. Here is a screenshot of the result of the Windows 10 update:





It appears it was successfully installed on 02/08/2018 but if it was, the display wasn't working then. Then today 13/08/2018 you can see the last failed attempt with the error code shown.


I have run the Windows Update Troubleshooter and the Hardware/Devices Troubleshooter and nothing can detect what the issue is.

Get Windows 10 Update states "AMD Radeon HD 7340 graphics" not fully compatible with windows 10

Strange the Get Windows 10 app never told me that the Radeon 7340 is not compatible with Windows 10. I am now on Windows 10 and having tons of problems with video playback (in many different applications) and the AMD autodetect software says it can't
find a driver for this card. Tried to manually install latest Windows 10 Catalyst driver which includes HD 7000 series, everything updated except the display driver. So what should I do, go back to Windows 7........

 

Driver Error AMD Mobility Radeon HD 5000

ok, it didn't work after all. windows update has seemingly installed another
driver update for my amd mobility radeon hd 5000, this time breaking it again.

i tried what you suggested step by step, but that didn't work either. I'll try it again with running a win 7 driver in compatibility between steps two and three and keep you posted on the results.

 

Loss of screen resolution following driver update for ATI Radeon HD 4200

Today Windows 10 update offered to install "Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. driver update for ATI Radeon HD 4200". After the installation I am no longer able to select the proper screen resolution from the Display settings. The display uses a lower resolution
and says it is using the Microsoft basic display driver. Switching to Device manager, however, shows the Ati Radeon HD 4200 in the Display Adapters section.

Any suggestions how to fix the screen resolution will be appreciated.
