Windows 10: Windows 10 Update Fails with error: 0x800707e7

I've been having this issue for a few months now, but I'm finally determined to fix it. The thing is I'm stuck at windows 10 version 19043.1826, and everytime I try to update windows, it will restart and get to about 70ish percent when an error occurs and it undoes all changes made to my PC.I've also tried using the windows update assistant, found here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10. And this did not work either.

I have Windows 10 version 1909, and I'm trying to update to 21h2, but each time I try an error occurs towards the end.

I've using the windows update assistant too, but that did not work either.

Then tried using the media creation tool, and I got the following error message: "0x800707E7 - 0x3000D The installation failed in the FIRST_BOOT phase with an error during MIGRATE_DATA operation".

I searched a little and found this thread, in which Sumit solved the issue. Looking at "Setuperr.log", I seem to have the same issue mentioned there, namely, an unrecognized user profile, so I typed "netplwiz" in the Run dialog box and deleted what seemed to be an extra profile. However, when it came to deleting it from the registry, I couldn't figure out which file (if any) to delete. Also, "Setuperr.log" seems to have quite a few entries, so there may have been additional issues.

I'd greatly appreciate help resolving this issue.

Follow the steps here for Overcoming Version Upgrade problems which will always work if you follow them all - unless the underlying install is too corrupted to Upgrade: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wiki...

If the Version has problems I will work with you to try to resolve them. If the problems are unfixable for now, you have ten days to roll it back in Recovery settings.

Most problems are resolved by doing this gold standard Clean Install which should get you past all difficulties as it has millions of others who have followed the steps in this link and never come back to report another problem: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wiki... . Issue with Windows 10 update - 0x800707E7 - 0x3000D

Good evening,

Recently I have tried to update my laptop to the latest version of Windows.

I followed the update instructions through the 'MediaCreationTool20H2' app, as per suggested by Microsoft member, but I keep receiving the same error (I have now tried 2/3 times).

Error Code: 0x800707E7 - 0x3000D

"The installation failed in the FIRST_BOOT phase with an error during MIGRATE_DATA operation"

System Model: HP Pavilion Power Laptop 15-cb0xx

Microsoft Windows Version 1803 (OS Build 17134.1345)

Could please someone help me solve this issue?
