Windows 10: Windows 10 Update has broken some drivers

I've had some strange issues with Windows 10 since buying a new laptop 15 months ago. I kinda got over one problem, but it still causes me problems today. It's something you don't expect when you spend quite a bit of money on what you believe to be a good product. You don't expect quite so many problems.

Then, around 10 months ago - I couldn't access Microsoft 365 products, weird right? My operating system is Windows, yet I couldn't attend work meetings on MS Teams or access any of the files I needed for my work.


Now, directly after the last Windows updates - my mouse and multi-port usb adapter - both of which I need for work - do not work. They work just fine in other computers. The driver for my mouse says it's 'up-to-date' but it does not work and neither does the multi-port adapter.


I'm a little fed up and disillusioned to say the least. I've been in touch with the 'help desk' at Microsoft and had lengthy attempts to try and fix it - but surprise surprise, nothing worked. What can I do? Wait until they issue a fix - but when and how will I know? I've paused all updates for obvious reasons, and suspect I won't be accepting any further updates since they just seem to cause a lot of problems. I need advice, anyone have any suggestions?

I had the realtek error when using the installer, so I did these step and It Worked

1.Go Open up device manager
2. Go under sound,video, and game controllers
3. Find Realtek High Definition Audio
4. Right click and hit update driver
5. Browse my computer for driver software
6. Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer
7. Click Have Disk and hit browse
8. Click on the Realtek HD Audio mod folder and look for win64
9. Click on the HDXRT4 and click ok,
10. Click Next and Yes
After it is done, restart the PC

You should be good then and also make sure before doing these steps that you have driver enforcement disabled.

 

Windows 10 nVidia Driver Question

With the Nov Update, Windows 10 became mature enough to give another try. Build 10586 (version 1511) runs great, feels snappy, and has no obvious problems. However, I'm concerned with this version's insistence on loading nVidia's 353.54 driver, which is dated July 13 2015, 4 months ago. On their US website they list all the new drivers as being compatible with Windows 10, (such as 358.91), but they won't load (installer says incompatible with this version of Windows, could find no compatible hardware...). The 353.54 driver runs games without any problems, but why is it taking so long to for nVidia to update this driver? Is it my 780 Ti that's incompatible or is it Windows 10?
