Windows 10: Windows 10 update Jan 14 2021 made my external hardrive not accessable!

I am in dire need of help please!


Last night when I put my computer to sleep mode, it had been running perfectly.


I woke up this morning to windows 10 updating my home PC. I did not even get a choice, it was already doing it, but it's done it before so I didn't even think about it. When I went to get on as soon as it was done, I had a black screen. When I got that fixed, it did not show my 3 TB external drive existing at all. Not even a drive number an no files what so ever.


I have worked almost all day trying to figure this out to no avail, though I did see where other updates have caused similar issues for other people.


It has updated countless times before without ever having an issue. And everything was supposed to be saved in he cloud, but apparently it wasn't.


This drive was super important to me personally, and I need to get access.


And it did so to my son's computer's external hard drive as well when he got home from school!


I was finally access both hard drives in a dual data transfer docking station, but neither show any files.


Why Microsoft? Why cause anyone this kind of stress? Fix your updates

Windows 10 not letting me update it with external hardrive

Hello,

I currently have Windows 10 on my HP Stream Notebook PC 13. For some reason it wont let me intall the Upgrade to Windows 10 Home, version 1511, 10586. I have been using my Toshiba external hardrive to intall updates and back up my files. My external hardrive
shows up and works with the computer, but when I go to upgrade it, it doesn't give me the option to use an external hardrive to update it! I need help... How do I make that option show up?

Win10 external Hardrive.

Hello all techies need your help.

I have been using my External hardrive case with different memory card plug in the front of the external hardrive case.

It has been working for over five years fine and something happened that it wants to now format it. I know all the information is still on the Hardrive. However, how do I get my windows to recognize the Hardrive or hardrive to recognize windows? I don't
want to lose all my data please.
