    Windows 10 update keep failing

Windows 10 update (home version) has been failing for a while now. When you try to shutdown you only get the option to "Update and Shutdown". Doing that results to the first part of the update and when I try to boot it will fail
around 98% and rolls back the update. Doing the troubleshooter I get "Service registration is missing or corrupt" Not fixed. Help is appreciated to fix this issue.

Use this Tech Bench link to download YOUR version of Windows 10. Please follow the instructions to the letter.
    http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/softw...load/techbench

    * Make sure you download the same Windows 10 Edition, Language and Bit-version as your computer is now running.

Once you have the iso downloaded, right click at the ISO > click Mount > leave it there.
Then open the elevated command prompt and copy and paste this................

    Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth /Source:wim:H:\sources\install.wim:1 /limitaccess

***Note : H is the drive where the iso is mounted. Change it if your driver letter is different.***

When it is completed, you should get the report that the operation is successful.
Now run the sfc /scannow again. It should be ok this time.

    Windows 10 update keep failing

I overlooked that your Windows 10 is an older version 10240.
    The current version is 10586.

You already have the ISO fie downloaded using the Tech Bench link I gave you.
    Yes ?
If yes, then use this method to do an In-place upgrade.

Go to the folder where your iso file is stored > RIGHT click at it > click MOUNT > click Setup.exe.
    Installation will begin.
You are allowed to keep your files, settings and apps.
    No product key is required.
    Activation will be automatic.

After successful installation and activation to version 10586, wait for Windows Update to install the current cumulative update which will bring you up-to-date 10586.318.

I just tried the in-place upgrade now but it failed. When i double clicked on the iso setup, i got this message:

    Set.exe – Bad Image
C\WINDOWS\32\dbgcore.DLL is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error. Try installing the program again using the original installation media or contact your system administrator or the software vendor for support. Error status 0xc0000020

When i close the box the installation commenced but while downloading updates, it stopped and displayed:

we can’t tell if your PC has enough space to continue installing Windows 10. Try restarting Setup

My PC is 4 GB RAM, 2.99 useable with 297 HD space.

Hi, have a look through this thread which addresses this error message. There are some specific ideas.
    http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/w...4-ecf3b2dd20fc

From what I've seen ignore Andre da Costa's suggestion, but by all means uninstall any AV.

Also are you confident your PC is compatible with Win 10? I see no model number- can you check with the Lenovo website?

And as it's a recent install, you may prefer to simply clean install build 10586 which came out last November- just wondering why you installed build 10240?

I had earlier downloaded the windows 10 installation package and saved it when microsoft rolled it out last year and installed on my laptop then. Microsoft allowed the option of downloading and saving to install on other pcs instead of having to download all over for another pc. I could not install on the present one now as it was not working well then.
