Windows 10: Windows 10 update keeps erasing my Chrome bookmarks, Quicken files, default information

Every time my computer restarts, I must redo all defaults, including finding my Chrome bookmarks, Quicken files, documents folder, etc. How do I get these to load automatically when the computer restarts?

Where did my Chrome bookmarks go?

Hello KatrinaPappas, my name is Irisdiel and I am an independent advisor.

I suggest you follow the instructions down below.

-Search for "Bookmarks.bak" in Windows Explorer

-Right-click the file and choose "Open file location" to open the folder, which should be your Chrome user data folder (i.e., Users/[Username]/AppData/Local/Google/Chrome/User Data/Default)

-Open the bookmarks backup file in Notepad. Your old bookmarks, hopefully, are listed there

-In Chrome, go to Settings > Advanced sync settings (under the Sign in section) and change the sync settings so that Bookmarks aren't synced, if they currently are set to sync

-Close Chrome

-Back in the Chrome user data folder, find another "Bookmarks" file without an extension. Rename it "Bookmarks2.bak"

-Then rename the "Bookmarks.bak" file to "Bookmarks"

Latest Windows 10 Update - Lost Bookmarks in Chrome please advise how to restore

Hello,

Following the a windows 10 update my bookmarks have all disappeared from my Chrome. I have tried googling the answer and tried locating the two bookmarks and bookmarks.bak files and renaming them then deleting them and keeping only the newly named bak file
as suggested by some online users. This has not worked. I have also tried to restore the system to a few days before the update in order to at least access them but this has not worked either because there is no earlier date showing when I go to access the
system restore option. Even my saved word documents disappeared (but after running a search for one word document name I managed to find them).

Any suggestions please? I can locate the bookmarks and bookmarks.bak files and can open and read the contents in notepad. Is there a way to maybe convert the bak file into an html file then import them into Chrome that way? Any suggestions on how I can restore
my bookmarks into Chrome?

Cant open quicken files

• What the exact error message you are getting?

Please be informed that Quicken 2002 might not be compatible with Windows 10.

I suggest you to install that program in compatibility mode and check.

Compatibility mode runs the program using settings from a previous version of Windows.

Follow these steps to install the program in compatibility mode and check if that helps.

a. Download the program from the manufacturer’s website.

b. Right-click on the program setup file and click on
‘properties’.

c. Click on the ‘compatibility’ tab and check the box
‘Run this program in compatibility mode for’ and select Windows 8 operating system from the drop down menu and proceed with the installation. Once this is done, restart the computer.
