Windows 10 update leads to multiple issues

I'm not convinced cancelling some changes is not an evil choice. After all, why doing this ? It's not like MS didn't try to shove up our ***** a few things in the past, no matter we want it or not, such as Windows 10 precisely, or having an MS account instead of a local account. Plus, only some changes have been cancelled, not all changes. Cortana is back as well as some privacy-leaking settings, why those ?

Congratulations MS, you've made me suspicious...

MS have a virtual world monopoly. It would not surprise me if someone had already designed a replacement but MS bought up the patents.

  3. Mike,

You are right; I was too upset. After my shower, I feel better.

Yes, I understand the order (remove & add) now.
I have to fix Win and I have to fix Outlook, so I'm putting them off until ...winter.
I am accumulating fixes that can wait and then I'll go to work.

I have more apps to remove than restore. My post showed that.
It's too bad that there are a lot of us who have/had to do this. I could look at it as being reassuring, but I won't.

Yep - my version is up to date.
As past is prologue, I truly hope this update didn't knock off the finally 100% working HP software. (Then I will split a gut.)

    Thank you.

There is a program to that might help you remove or add your Store apps. I don't know how good it is, as I have not tried it yet.
10AppsManager: Uninstall, reinstall Windows 10 Store apps
Its a free program. Just thought I would mention it to you. My Outlook in Office 2013 is fine, Windows update did not affect it.
As far as your HP apps, if you mean the ones that come with a new HP computer, I deleted most of mine myself, as I consider them bloatware. Also can even slow down the computers boot up time.
    Take care, Mike.

  5. NovHak,

Too many people don't know how to protect and maintain their computers, so restoring programs is not inherently evil. It's evil to reverse privacy settings. This update regime isn't better for us, but some people need to be forced to install updates.

Yes, of course MS continues to shove - I noticed they tightened up their local account, where instead of having a pause before I have to login again at outlook.com, I'm immediately knocked out when I log out of Win forums. They also added this "great" feature in same outlook.com account where they chose a specific email and moved it into Calendar. I don't use their bloody calendar for my personal email and will never. In dot com email, after I select an email to read, that stupid message (check here if you want to always select the first email to open) pops up every time - and it takes about 15 seconds to open the mail that I've chosen. Apparently they're blatantly scanning all emails to determine which email to move into Calendar.

Privacy settings - "why those?" Because those are the ones about which MS is particularly concerned.

    elbmek - Re MS Monopoly

Open Office is still an option, but I have not read the specs since early this century.
More and other email programs offer the ability to hook up an Outlook account. Maybe there are feasible options to Office Outlook - if there is, I'll let you all know.

  6. Mike,

I will check out your suggestion. It should be a quick fix. Thank you.

Re HP - it's Solution Center. I have a home office.
    I send many faxes.
I use it to confirm copies were sent or received.
I have no other useless HP apps (buy me now? check for useless HP updates?).

It wasn't just the Solution Center, though. The biggest problem was that I couldn't tell my computer to print.
It was not just via SC, but I couldn't print from internet, any docs, a shipping label, etc.

Thank you for going there, though. You never know.

    Take care, yourself. Thank you.

I too am having problems with the latest update. My computer screen is now of a Lenovo laptop instead of my HP desktop. My 1password will not work even after enabling the extension in Google Chrome. My favorites seem to have been imported from the laptop. My bookmarks bar has numerous websites notes when previously it only had "imported from IE and other bookmarks." I'm almost 70, any help would be greatly appreciated.

The first thing that I might suggest is this website - click here: How To Ask Questions The Smart Way
We need a lot more information from you before we can provide answers.

On the left hand bottom side of your post (under the flags), maybe you would fill in "System Specs" the best that you can.
Not everything on the list is important.

At your age, you are not too old to learn.

    Thank you.

My Windows is french, so forgive me if the text is not exactly the same as the english edition.

Control Panel => Clock, language, region => Language => Advanced parameters (left column) => Modify the language bar fast access keys => "Language bar" tab. Then you can choose if you want it hidden or not.

In case you don't know, you can get to the control panel by right-clicking the start menu/welcome screen button and choosing "Control Panel".

Windows 10 update leads to multiple issues

Do you mean you couldn't close your current session by clicking the Start button => User icon => Disconnect ? Or right clicking the Start button => Shutdown or disconnect => Disconnect ?

    There's a third option that's usually there even when all the others aren't, it's CTRL-ALT-SUPPR => Disconnect

Btw, I don't like the term Disconnect. It used to be Close session before, which is more clear because it's possible to disconnect without closing the session...
