Windows 10: Windows 10 update - no audio

Windows version: 1809


I am not at the PC at the moment but assume last update was KB4486553. I conducted the update on 3/8/19


Just completed a new pc build and after sucessful windows install all fetures worked properly. I proceeded to update all the drivers and windows itself. After updating my PC now has ZERO sound. The front and back audio jacks are not being recognized (playback devices state Not plugged in). I have uninstalled (through device manger) the sound drivers and reinstalled. I have even manually installed previous Realtek drivers in an attempt to fix the issue.


Through the update i lost the ability to use Realtek HD audio manager. After some tinkering I was able to get that back. Through the manager I am able to reactivate only the front audio jacks to my PC. After making the speaker or headset the default device I still recieve no sound from them when speakers or a headset is plugged in.


I have downloaded the audio drivers driectly from gigabyte (MB - Gigabyte B450 I Auros Pro WiFi) still no sound. After doing all fixes I could find on these forums and others I decided to attempt a windows recovery and go back to the version I initially installed. All to find out that windows wont allow me to revert back to previous update. This is starting to become beyond frustrating especially since the PC is brand new and worked flawlessly for 12 hrs prior to the update. I hope there is a fix or microsoft atleast knows this is a problem with their update. If not I will be looking into an alternative OS.

Everyone that post ids, need just do these steps and you will be good. I kinda tired of keep on uploading the inf. file

1.Go Open up device manager
2. Go under sound,video, and game controllers
3. Find Realtek High Definition Audio
4. Right click and hit update driver
5. Browse my computer for driver software
6. Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer
7. Click Have Disk and hit browse
8. Click on the Realtek HD Audio mod folder and look for win64
9. Click on the HDXRT4 and click ok,
10. Click Next and Yes
additional if you want dts audio and others, install it now before next step.
After it is done, restart the PC

You should be good then and also make sure before doing these steps that you have driver enforcement disabled.
