Windows 10: Windows 10 Update not working, Modern Setup Host quits working.

I am trying to update Windows 10. I have tried using the update troubleshooter which indicates it fixes all errors found but get error when using 'check for updates'. I have tried to do a clean startup but still encounter the same problem. I have also tried an in-place upgrade both of the last items following directions at https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/windows-10-update-not-working/d5c934c3-b2e0-48cb-8b4c-d9e86b5a3c6f. The process works until about halfway through the install process on the blue screen where I get an error window popup that says "Modern Setup Host h

[Fixed] Windows 10 Anniversary - Modern setup host has stopped working

Hi everybody,
I'm trying to update my Windows 10 system to the Anniversary edition.
When the installation process reaches 100% and the system is about to reboot I always get the message 'Modern setup host has stopped working' . All I can do is press OK, quitting the installation.
After several google searches I tried to:

• perform a clean boot,
• unplug all the USB devices,
• update from the .ISO,
• disable graphic and sound cards

No way. Modern setup host won't work properly.
I don't have any antivirus or firewall installed.

Any idea on how to complete the installation?

Regarding your concern with the deleted Modern Setup Host file, we’d like to ask the following questions so we can isolate it at the same time:

• What particular action that you’re trying to perform at the time that it was accidentally deleted.?
• May we know where and how it was deleted on your computer?
  
• Were you able to check if the deleted file can be found in the
  Recycle bin?

As an initial step, we suggest that perform a DISM command. This will help repairing possible system file corruptions. Follow these steps:

• Type command in the search box.
• Right-click on the result and select Run as administrator.
• Type this command: DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
• Press Enter.
• Close the Command Prompt windows and check if changes were made related to the Modern Setup Host file.

If you have sufficient space to install Windows 10 on your computer, I suggest you to follow the steps provided below and check if it helps.

• Open Windows Explorer.
• Navigate to “C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download”
• Delete everything in this folder.
• Now Open Command Prompt with administrator.
• Type wuauclt.exe /updatenow
• Press Enter key.
