Windows 10 update not working - partial update then undoes changes

Microsoft Windows 10 Pro Version 20H2 - build 19042 - 500gb Sata SSD - 16GB RAM Downloading Update: 2020-11 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 20H2 for x64-based SystemsWindows Update: Error encountered. "Some update files are missing or have problems......If I click Retry it will download 100% and ask for Re-Start.Press Re-Start and it will begin to update until it gets to 30% then it will restart. It will then continue to install up to 48% then restart again. Then says "we couldn't complete the updates and are undoing changes" It does this three times (three re-starts) before finally loading Windows as normal.I have tried many of the suggestions found online mostly from a CMD point. Tried several re-sets for Windows Update but nothing has worked so far. net start bits - net start wuauserv - net start appidsvc - net start cryptsvc etc.... Have just run BAT file from this forum too, no change.Would be most grateful for help with this.Thank you.

    :)

Well just noticed a pretty large one pop up coming in at 914MB, seems it makes some pretty serous updates.

  3. Windows 10 update being enabled.

Late to the party again... *Laugh
That would be incorrect. To disable updates, the service must be disabled. Windows Defender has a nasty habit of undoing users configs like that so you need to disable it first, then disable the update service.

    If you're looking for an easy way to do this, see here;
    http://www.thewindowsclub.com/ultimate-windows-tweaker-4-windows-10
There are all sorts of great config changes that can be made safely with that utility and all with just a couple of clicks. After setting changes a reboot will b e required, but that's to be expected.

Get Windows 10 now, no line, Force the update

If your tired of waiting like I was on a few machines, here is the simple way to get Windows 10 Update to forcibly start ahead of waiting in the line.

1: Go to Windows Update, change the settings by clicking both check boxes under Microsoft Update and Recommended Updates.

2: Then Change the Important Updates Area to say "Install updates Automatically" on the drop down menu.

3: Next open up CMD by right clicking on it and saying "Run as Administrator" (If you do not know where CMD is just click the start search area and type CMD)

4: Once CMD is opened, type this command (But do not hit enter yet) wuauclt.exe /updatenow

5: Next go back to the Windows update area and click "Check for Updates"

6: Now go back to the CMD line and hit enter

You should now be downloading Windows 10.

It worked on every machine I have done this method for, you just have to have all the settings exactly what I listed and it works fine (Some people were not changing the Important Updates area drop down to say "Install Updates Automatically" which I found is required).

Hope this helps some of yall who want to get Windows 10 now, works great for me!
