  1. Windows 10 update schedule for different computer models

To those are more computer savvy than I, I apologize if this seems like a stupid question.

We have four computer in our household. They are all Dell computers, purchased at different times over the years. The oldest is about five or six years old, It's a desktop with an I7 processor running Windows 10 Pro. The next to the oldest is an I7 Inspiron 7000 series laptop running Windows 10 Pro, it's about four years old. The second newest computer is 3 years old and It's an I7 desktop running Windows 10 Pro and the newest is an I7 Inspiron 7000 series laptop also Running Windows 10 Pro.

This afternoon at 12:15 pm, Windows 10 wanted to update on the older 7000 series laptop. It took over an hour and several automatic restarts to finish up the up date. I asked my son If his lap also updated, he said that it had not, his is the newer 7000 series. I looked at the "About My Computer" on all four computers and the older desktop computer has not updated. I don't remember the other desktop computer updating recently but all my computers are set to automatically update and it probably did in the middle of the night and I just didn't notice it, my son hadn't noticed when his updated either.

Here is where I'm at with all four computers:

    Oldest Desktop Intel Core I7-4790@3.60GHz 3.60GHz - Version 1709 Build 16299.125

    Newer Desktop Intel Core I7-4790@3.60GHz 3.60GHz - Version 1909 Build 18362.959

    Oldest Laptop Intel Core I7-6500U@2.50GHz 2.60GHz - Version 1909 Build 18362.959

    Newer Laptop Intel Core I7-8550U@1.80GHz 2.00GHz - Version 1909 Build 18362.959

So this is my question....Why doesn't Windows update all my computers in the same night, when the update is available? I also notice that our phones Android update sometimes weeks apart and they are all the same brand and model of phone. Is there a reason that updated are staggard or is something wrong with my settings?

    :)

Two major Windows 10 updates scheduled for 2017

Windows 10 update schedule for different computer models windows-10-hp-stream-100566481-large.jpg

It may come as no surprise, but Microsoft won't release another major update for Windows 10 in 2016. The good news is you can expect two big updates to Microsoft’s latest operating system in 2017.

Microsoft let the information slip in a TechNet blog post published earlier in the week. “Windows 10, version 1607 is our third Windows 10 feature update released,” Microsoft said in the blog post. “Based on feedback from organizations moving to Windows 10, this will be our last feature update for 2016, with two additional feature updates expected in 2017.”

The blog post appears to confirm reports from the Windows rumor mill about the timing of the next two updates for Windows 10. The first update, dubbed Redstone 2, is expected to roll out in early 2017 with the second, Redstone 3, landing in the summer or early fall, similar to the timing of the recently released Anniversary Update (previously known as Redstone 1).

This schedule would put Microsoft back on a two updates per year schedule similar to the initial rollout of Windows 10, as Windows Central first pointed out. In 2015, Microsoft released Windows 10 (also known as Threshold) in July and then the November Update(dubbed Threshold 2) three months later.

This time around, Redstone 2 is expected to roll out in the spring and then Redstone 3 should hit about four to six months later.

The impact on you at home: Of the two updates, Redstone 2 looks to be the most interesting so far. Not necessarily because of the features, which are believed to be largely things that weren’t ready for the Anniversary Update. The big deal is that the early 2017 update is expected to roll out in concert with new hardware from Microsoft, asZDNet’s Mary Jo Foley first reported back in March.

Early builds of Redstone 2 are expected to roll out to Windows Insiders in the coming weeks.

Windows 10 upgrade problem, no input accepted

I really hate having to come here and ask for help, but I really am stumped. It hurts my geek pride. I have a PC with fairly modern hardware in it. It has a p8p67 pro in it. I have tried upgrading windows 10 on it twice now. Both times I have had the same result.

After windows finishes upgrading it goes to the log in/set up screen. I can't do anything. No keyboard or mouse input is accepted.

I will list some, or hopefully all, of the troubleshooting steps I have tried:
    • Move keyboard and mouse to different USB ports.
    • Try different keyboard or mouse.
    • Restart computer, repeatedly.
    • Google for related issues.
    • Update Bios, because why not.
    • Create boot media and revert to windows 7.
The windows 10 system restore boot media works fine with keyboard and mouse. All USB ports work in windows 7. I don't know what is wrong. I suspect that windows 10 is lacking a driver of some sort, but since the computer accepts no input I have no way of checking for which driver let alone installing it.

Please help me figure this out. If I have to revert back to windows 7 again, I am not going to get it upgraded to windows 10. Thank you in advanced.
