Subject: Windows 10 Update Slows Down My Home Desktop PC and Refurbished/2nd Hand Aftershock Gaming Laptop to a Crawl! Dear Microsoft, According to widespread reports, the culprit is Windows update KB5028166. However, there is no way I can uninstall this update. My Home Desktop PC and refurbished Aftershocking gaming laptop have slowed down to a crawl. Opening a plain text file and a MP4 video took a few minutes. After clicking on the icon, my MAGIX Movie Studio 2023 Platinum video editing software took a few minutes to launch. After clicking on the icon, my Google Chrome web browser too

  2. I bought a 2nd hand laptop with an exception in Windows Security!!

I bought a 2nd hand laptop (HP Probook 430 G5) today with Windows 11 pre installed. On checking it out I found an exception entered in Windows Security. The file is SppExtComObjHook.dll and is located in C:|Windows\system32\

I contacted the seller (a refurbisher of 2nd hand laptops) and he says not to be concerned, dismisses google searches that mention that it's not good and insists it was put there as part of the upgrade from Windows 10 to Windows 11.

What's your opinion? Should I be concerned?

    Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK

Not sure about the games you listed but no probs with Dirt Rally and benching heavensward-bench here for me. I'm going to test 3DMark too in a few minutes.
