Windows 10: Windows 10 Update stalls computer at loading screen

Hey all,

I've done some searching online.. and while it seems to be pretty common problem generally, I haven't found anything with the exact same problem so my road to a solution isn't clear.

Basically, every time I update windows it goes through the download -> installation -> gives me a "successful install" window then restarts my computer. After that the computer will stall at the "windows" logo screen indefinitely. It doesn't say "installing" or anything, just the windows logo, the spinning orbs, and infinite time. The only way to fix it is to roll back until before the update, then it works perfectly again. The problem is I'm not getting any kind of an error code or even a blue screen of death... just, infinitely loading.

It's especially annoying because I'm trying to sign up for game pass, which doesn't let me install anything unless I'm up to date on windows.. meaning I can't use it.

Windows Version 1803, and it's apparently trying to update to 1909.. if that helps.

Computer specs:

Running Windows 10 Pro
i5-4670k (3.4GHz)
MSI 7821
8GB Ram
GTX 1070ti

Drivers are all up to date.

Friends computer freezing at windows loading screen

Ok my friend is having problems with his computer right now. Basically it crashed on the windows loading screen. This is what he told me on MSN.

Now i'm not too sure what the problem is. I suggested doing a repair install with the xp disk (i'll be giving him that tomorrow) but in the mean time do any of you have any ideas?

When you say 'update to Windows 10 stalling at 99%' are you referring to upgrade to Windows 10 is stuck or unable to update Windows to different builds?

If you are referring to Windows updates then follow the steps and check.

Run the Update Troubleshooter on the computer.

Windows 10 has a built-in troubleshooter to check and fix issues with Update. I would suggest you to run this troubleshooter to check if the issue is with your Windows update.

Refer these steps:

• Press Windows key +X, select Control panel.
• Change the view by option on the top right to Large icons.
• Click on Troubleshooting and click on the view all option on the left panel.
• Run the Windows Update troubleshooter.
• Restart the system and check if the issue is resolved.

Latest HTC Surround Update (7.10.8772.98) Repeatedly Stalls

The update proceeds to step 6 of 10 in Zune, and the update then stalls after phone restart with download icon on the phone screen (I have waited over an hour). During this time, the Cancel button becomes active on the Zune screen with no error messages.
I have followed ALL of the troubleshooting procedures listed (including disk space checks) and can find no issues preventing the update. It SEEMS LIKE the phone is attempting to send stored data on the phone to a location on the computer,
but that location is hidden, protected or does not exist.

I have contacted the service provider and HTC, and both say this is a Microsoft problem. I would appreciate knowing exactly what is supposed to be happening after phone update restart (step 6) so I can troubleshoot further, or any other suggestions. Please
remember that I have tried ALL of the troubleshooting suggestions at the Windows Phone website!
