Windows 10: Windows 10 update stuck at 12%

I see a similar but locked thread here.


My Levono laptop boots up to a Windows update, and it gets to 12% (sometimes 8%, sometimes 15%) where after it does not increase further. However the rotating dots keep rotating. I've let it sit over night, but it does not get beyond the % it's stuck at.


I have run full hardware diagnostics on the Levono using their USB boot software, and all hardware looks fine.


Since I can't get to Windows safe mode from an F8 menu on Windows 10, and since the owner of this laptop did not save a recovery backup, I don't know what option I have other than a factory reload.


Can anyone offer me a tip other than the usual 3 steps posted in the other thread and all over the Internet?

Well just noticed a pretty large one pop up coming in at 914MB, seems it makes some pretty serous updates.

Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK

Win10: windows update stuck at never ending loop ?

When in win10:

• Update&security -> Windows update -> Finding update... .... .... ....

Planning to download the latest Win10.ISO (vers.1803) and manually update:
- Then wait that my ordered new SSD arrives and clone the old HDD to it.
