Windows 10: Windows 10 Update stuck at 98%

For a while now Windows has an update ready for my desktop, but whenever i try to update my computer it used to get stuck at 96% and after being stuck like that for 15-20 minutes it says that the update failed and that all changes will be undone and then my computer just restarts. I tried 5 or 6 times to do this update but it failed every time. About a month later i decided to try and update it again and i also made some space on my SSD, now there's 19.9GB of free space on it and when i try to update my computer it now get stuck at 98% instead of 96% but exactly the same happens. Does anyone know what the problem could be? do i need more free space on my SSD or is it something else

Windows 98 and ME no longer updatable...

Quite right, XP is still listed in technet. Win 98 unfortunately isn't. Windows 3.1 and 3.2 are listed though.

why not try to use virtual PC and emulate windows 98 on a XP machine or did someone already suggest that?
