Windows 10: Windows 10 update stuck on restarting

I’m on mobile right now so I apologize for the formatting I’ll correct when I can get my computer actually up and running again…

I just got a update for windows 10 and was notified of it and rather than put it off until in the evening when I want to go to bed like as I usually do I decided to tell my computer to restart and run the update now OK easy right? quick yeah you think?


Nope! It spent 10 minutes stuck on the restarting screen. I had to forcefully shut down my computer by holding the power button. Thankfully it came back and immediately started installing the update and appears to have successfully ran through another restart… Now I’m getting windows ready which means I’m probably home free… When I wanna know is has anyone else seen this with the latest and greatest update from Microsoft?

Hi dalchina. Good news, I followed your suggestion and reinstalled the update and now it appears as "installed correctly" *Biggrin Maybe it was not necessary to run the Windows Update Troubleshooter or maybe if necessary. But using it I do not think it could have worsened something. The installation was very fast, unlike the first time it showed step 1 and step 2 completed.

Anyway , You are luckier than me. My computer was locked directly after updated to Windows 10 . but the solution is easy.

When you finish testing the Avast suggestion, make sure that you restart your machine.

Then if the issue persists, please return to the trouble shooting list in post# 89

I think there are three steps that remain; the WU troubleshooter, reset WU components, and manual WU reset.
