Windows 10: Windows 10 update version 20H2 KB4023057 error code 0x80070002

Windows does not want to install update 2021-01 for windows 10 version 20H2 KB4023057, keeps failing and gives error code 0x80070002

• Restarting Pc did not help
• Troubleshoot did not find anything

Needs assistance please

0x80070002 error code in windows update

My windows 10 version is Home, 20H2. Build 19042.630I'm trying to download cumulative update KB4592438. I keep getting 0x80070002 error code.






I also ran the windows troubleshooter and it says that it fixed the issue, but I still keep getting the same error. Here's the detailed report.



I also did multiple reboots of my laptop. I ran sfc/scannow but it didn't find any errors. What should I do to resolve this issue?

 

Error 0x80070002 when trying to update Windows

I have been having issues for months with Windows 10 updates failing due to Error 0x80070002 on my gaming laptop. The full message reads:

2019-06 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1803 for x64-based Systems (KB4503286) -Error 0x80070002.

I am currently on version 1803 (OS Build 17134.590) and I'm being told "You're currently running a version of windows that's nearing the end of support. We recommend you update to the most recent version of Windows 10 now to get the latest features and security improvements."

I have followed the instructions on Error Code 0x80070002 Fixed – Eassos Step-by-Step Tutorial but this hasn't resolved the problem. Does anybody know how to fix this?

I actually start getting this error with an October update and have been trying to troubleshoot. Here's the details

Affected Updates:

October 13, 2020—KB4579311 (OS Build 19041.572)

Windows 10, version 20H2

Error 0x80070002

Attempts to resolve:

Changed Date and Time settings

Ran Win10 troubleshooter for updates (states no issue)

Reset windows update from command line (stop all servcices and restarted)

Tried d/l'ing and installing updates directly. System completes install to 100% but then message appears stating update wasn't installed

Looking for some help going forward
