Windows 10: Windows 10 update

I bought my son a nicely specced Laptop for his schoolwork at Christmas this year and 1 month later, due to an automatic update it is nothing more than empty.


All of the files, programs, drivers and everything else is gone! I can log into windows but there is NOTHING at all on the other side. I can't connect to my wireless because it says it can't detect wireless hardware, I can run a system restore, I literally cannot do anything!


This is 100% wrong. I am now faced with a bill for repair OR more likely (seeing as I have never seen a computer in this condition) an even larger bill for a new Laptop.


Are Microsoft going to pay for whatever has happened to me? Surely there are grounds for a claim here? I didn't ask for the Laptop to update, it did it automatically and has completely ruined my son's Laptop.


Has anyone taken steps to claim any compensation here? I'm furious.

Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK

Well just noticed a pretty large one pop up coming in at 914MB, seems it makes some pretty serous updates.
