  1. Windows 10 update

So I build all my Windows 10 systems and test each one before it goes out the door (several outside reps anywhere from 80 to 180 miles away). Everything works flawlessly. After it is shipped out Windows updates comes along and decides to up date the WIFI LAN drivers for the NIC card. Now the NIC card that worked perfectly when it went out the door looses connections won't list the SSID or work in any reliable way. So my only means to remote into a PC 80 miles away is hosed. (PC has no hardwired Ethernet just WIFI) So I found a blog explaining how to create a local policy to prevent drivers from being loaded for a specific device by listing the hardware ID. AWESOME now I can quit wasting my time fixing **** that MS Updates screws up and my outside end users can get work done. NNNOOOOO now when the Updates come down Windows updates see's that there is a policy preventing the update and instead of just leaving it alone it Screws you totally by disabling the device. You can't get to it....you can't role the update back..... just totally screwed.

Contrary to popular belief I do not work for Microsoft and my full time job is not going around to my 190+ machines to fixing things that Windows updates screws up on a weekly basis. I am sure my employer would love for me to work on things they are paying me to do rather than fix Microsoft screw ups for free. I get it that Microsoft has to release 57 updates a week to fix their less than adequate OS..... but can they just leave my hardware alone. If they can't write drivers that make the hardware work better then leave it alone!

Anyone have any tips on how to truly keep Windows Updates mits off my hardware drivers? So that my users can reliably get work done.

    Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK
