Windows 10: Windows 10 Update

The recent Windows 10 update has caused absolute carnage with my laptop. First it damaged my speaker outputs and then, once I'd finally managed to resolve that issue, it crashed my outlook and I can't currently find a resolution. I'm lucky enough to have a tech support package with my retailer but the impact of the widespread damage to many users by the recent update means they're dealing with a massive backlog of issues, so have wait times of over an hour. I know these other complaints are Windows 10 update related becaause two of the technicians I've spoken to now have said that 80% of the calls they're taking are related.


Microsoft seriously need to think more about the chaos they're causing every time they decide to release an update. Do the benefits outweigh the negative implications and at the very least, if you can't make a better job of them, can they be less frequent.


In the current crisis, tens if not hundreds of thousands of people are completely reliant on their home tech to be able to do their jobs and this is making a difficult situation even tougher. Please get a grip.

Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK

Well just noticed a pretty large one pop up coming in at 914MB, seems it makes some pretty serous updates.
