Windows 10: windows 10 updater error

my windows 10 updater shows error encountered and asked me to try running the troubleshooter. I did try to run the troubleshooter but the troubleshooter says it cannot identify any problems, still I am not able to update or check for updates from settings and it always says to run the troubleshooter. I don't know what to do now since, the troubleshooter is not able to identify any problems with the updater. Please help me.
