Windows 10: windows 10 updates..........HELP......taking forever

hi

I'm becoming really frustrated can someone please help me.

So i bought a new hp desktop a couple of days ago, so today when i went to shut down it was update and shutdown, which i clicked on but now it just keeps spinning with restarting on the screen. It has been going for a very long time, i thought maybe some thing is wrong with how long its taking so i manually shut it down and pulled the plug out for a few seconds switched it back on and its still saying restarting it hasnt reached the point where it says updating dont switch computer off . Is this normal. how long should i expect this to go on for and by me manually **** it down is this going to be a problem now

It will take some time to finish the process when installing Windows Update. As a workaround, we suggest that you perform these steps to identify if Windows is already unresponsive. Press the
NUM LOCK key on your keyboard to check if the light will turn on or off. If the light is changing meaning the system is still in the process but if not, we recommend that you press and hold the power button to shut down your PC.
Once done, try to boot your system again and check if it loads to Windows environment.

Let us narrow down the possibilities why your PC encountered this issue. You can follow the troubleshooting steps below:

• Temporarily disable your antivirus program before running the Windows Update.
  
• Visit the article on how to perform a clean boot in Windows.
  This helps eliminate software conflict that occurs when you install a program or an update. You may also determine what conflict is causing the issue by performing this method.
• Fix Windows Update errors. Since you are using Windows 10, you can do this by running the Windows Update Troubleshooter. To download the Windows Update Troubleshooter, click on this
  link.
• Restart your computer for the changes to take effect and try updating Windows again.
  

Note: After doing the steps above, you can enable your antivirus program again.

Windows 10 Update Taking Forever

To isolate your concern, we suggest that you perform the following steps to trigger
safe mode through the Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE) option. To do this, follow the steps below:

• Improper shutdown process (For Laptop: Remove the battery before performing the steps)
  • Turn on your computer. When the Windows logo is visible, unplug the power source of your computer. Perform this step three times.
  • On the fourth time that you turn on your computer, just simply wait for the
    Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE) window to appear.
• On the Choose an option screen, select Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup Settings and click
  Restart.
• Once your computer restarts, you will see a list of options. Press the
  F4 key to start your computer in safe mode.

We also recommend that you perform a system restore after booting in
safe mode. This option takes your PC back to an earlier point in time. Restoring won’t affect your personal files, but it will remove apps, drivers, and updates installed after the restore point was made. To do
this, follow the steps below:

• In the Search box, type Control
  Panel and press Enter.
• On the upper-right window, under View
  by, click Category and select
  Large icons.
• Search Control Panel for Recovery.
• Select Recovery > Open System Restore > Next.
• Choose the restore point related to the problematic app, driver, or update, and then select Next > Finish.
