  1. Windows 10 updates slowed my HP 17-by1033dx

I purchased my laptop last July, and it has worked great up until about January or February. There was a Windows update one day and all of a sudden my computer took forever to start up. It wasn’t that big of a deal because I keep my laptop on most of the time. Then, around March I noticed another update caused Google Chrome to be sluggish and the startup took even longer. Other browsers seemed okay. Then, in late April or early May, another update pretty much made everything just plain horrible. Everything was extremely slow, the start up was unbelievably long, the updates took hours to complete, and I couldn't even get into safe mode. I eventually reset the PC, a process which took about 14 hours, and and offending update which was all over the Internet which caused problems seemed to be the culprit. I forget which update that was. I told Windows not to download that update using the update troubleshooter or whatever program it was called, but later that night Windows downloaded and installed the update anyway. I ultimately decided to create a boot USB at work which installed windows 10 - 2004. It actually booted up pretty quick and ran smoothly, but that night Windows automatically downloaded the hardware drivers and restarted. That’s when I noticed the problems had returned. I’ve been dealing with it over the past couple of weeks since then, and I don’t know what to do. The only boot USB I have is for Windows 10 - 2004, and I don’t know if I can tell Windows not to download hardware drivers. I know that Windows 10 - 1903 worked like a charm, but I don’t know if I can create a boot USB for it now that 2004 is released. If there's a download out there for it, i don't know where it is, and I'll have to do it at work which adds a level of inconvenience to it all. There really is no excuse for all this nonsense from Microsoft. I'm pretty tech savvy, and it's extremely frustrating for me, so I can't imagine how it must be for someone who isn't.

Does anyone have any idea how to help? I'm going to do another install of 2004 tonight just so I can have a working laptop to transfer my data off of it. Maybe there's a way to not download the hardware drivers? Or maybe someone knows which driver is causing the issue? How can I install one at a time to figure out which one it is?

The laptop is still under warranty, so I'm going to call HP tomorrow to see if there's anything they can do for me.

    :)

HP Envy 17 3D 2199 el is incredibly slow

    Hp envy 17 2199el 3D user here.

Writing this just in case someone still needs to fix this problem.

This is caused by HP coolsense 2.0, for some reason when it's enabled it underclocks your processor down to 80 Mhz (Bug?) and spins the fans to the max. I've resolved by just disabling it.

JFYI: For some reason the latest windows 10 video drivers don't work (black screen at boot as of 6/5/2017), to fix this you have to disable the auto-updates after the rollback. If you need updated drivers just install the UNIFL but you won't be able to use 3D capabilities anymore.
