Three updates ago (mid-January), Windows Update took out the MSI installer, and I have must have tried at least 12 different solutions posted on Microsoft and the internet, to no avail.

At the same time, the update also took out my network, but this was easily fixed by using troubleshooters.

Last night, MS applied an update that took out my scanner. No only can the scanner not be found, bot the drivers (according to the error message) are missing too. I cannot simply reinstall my drivers like I did the last time MS took out my scanner, since .MSI installs are no longer possible.

Please don't simply reiterate the previous "solutions" and call it a day. I need REAL help; I cannot install almost anything and now have no scanner. I don't need put and paste solutions from other posts.

BTW, calling MS didn't work either. They tried all the school solutions, including the fixes on the internet and these forums, then told me to reinstall windows. That's a lazy-person solution, since it doesn't actually require the tech to do anything.

As I said, I need REAL help to get out of the box MS has trapped me into.

    Paul

    :)
