Windows 10: Windows 10 updates

Finally solved my problems with the totally dysfunctional windows 10 updates (1809 to 1909). I switched to Linux Mint and it works well. It is actually much better for a flip/spin computer where it turns into a tablet.

Fortunately my main desktop (and an i7 laptop) are windows 7, with "never 10" installed. Win 7 was great, how and why did Microsoft get it so wrong since then? I've searched and searched and found so many people distraught with the Win 10 updates that I know there are many many people out there with the same problems. I was spending 3-4 hours a week trying to keep my computer's functionality in the face of, and despite, Win 10 updates. It took me 4-5 hours to get a completely functional implementation of Linux Mint running and I am now swapping data from the windows to the Linux partition so I can delete windows.

I suspect that the manufacturers will soon realise that pre-installing Win 10 is holding back sales. I will not buy a computer with Win 10 on without a discount.... since I don't want it and won't use it.

Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK

Well just noticed a pretty large one pop up coming in at 914MB, seems it makes some pretty serous updates.
