Been on Win 10 for about 6 weeks upgraded from Win 7. Win Update listed Above update avail. Loaded it but it failed at restart. Could not then restart PC. Used repair disk to boot and system restore back to orig Win 10 ver. Got error 0x80000fff problem
during restore which appears to be a vista / win 7 restore issue. Fix will not run on Win 10. Any suggestions

There are many reasons why an upgrade from 7 to 10 might fail. This Google Search will point you at most of them. But that early on in the process, I have to wonder if the most likely cause might not be whatever antivirus package you have installed on your PC. Try disabling that, then try the install again. This has helped many people get past early-installation phase hurdles.

Yes, the computer contains sensitive info and has programs and certificates that are used to conduct transactions. Upgrade is the only option. Problem is we spent 2 days trying to upgrade, with no success. Initially we used the media creation tool provided by microsoft to try upgrade by using the assistive technology route. Didn't work, so we bought a windows 10 pro license, only to get stuck as above. Fustrations all around.

Wouldn`t downloading the Iso file and running setup from within W7 work ? And not using the dvd ? Maybe the dvd is corrupt, did you create it ?

I just downloaded the FCU ISO file, took less then 10 minutes.

Do you have the Iso file on this particular PC ?

Yes we downloaded the ISO using media creation tool, mounted it and run the setup on the WIN7. This gave the "installation has failed" error when it was about to restart.

If you attempt another upgrade it will create Panther logs (expected fail).
The Panther logs can then be troubleshooted to find the cause of the failure.
If you see a failure code or a posted error that may help the troubleshooting.

When posting large files (txt or images) into the thread you can use one drive or drop box share links:
Share OneDrive files and folders - Office Support

For failure to upgrade download and install Everything search:
    voidtools

Search for these folders and files and post as many files as you can find into the thread using one drive or drop box share links:
