Windows 10: Windows 10 upgrade fails on Windows 7 PC

I have been trying to upgrade to Windows 10 from Windows 7 SP 1 on my Asus ET2701INKI without success. I have used three sources/methods: the downloaded ISO file, image of same burned on DVD, and from Windows Update. Except once, during the second reboot, a blue-gray screen (I think; I am color-blind) appears declaring a problem because of VIDEO MEMORY MANAGEMENT INTERNAL; a futile attempt is then made to recover the installation whereupon windows 7 is restored. When that was accomplished, a blue (?) box appeared with the error code 0xC190019-0x400017.
After updating all my drivers and running a highly-rated Registry fixing program to no avail, I even went so far as to
upgrade Windows 7 with a newly bought copy, after which the Windows 10 upgrade from the ISO download actually succeeded' but when I did an unrelated reboot, the same screen with the VIDEO MEMORY MANAGEMENT INTERNAL message appeared. Nothing worked to fix the problem; only turning off the machine and on again triggered a restoration to Windows 7.
I have searched the web, called Asus for help to no avail. What little I found suggested doing the windows 10 install with Virus software uninstalled and all peripherals disconnected; both "remedies" I tried without success.

Windows 10 Pro Failed

I have Windows7 Pro on an HP Pavilion Laptop.

When I check the Windows Update History, I see that EACH day since 7/29/15, there is an entry that the Windows 10 Pro Upgrade FAILED.

When I click on the Windows 10 icon on the task tray, I get "We're validating Windows 10 for your PC. We recommend that you upgrade after you get notification that Windows 10 is ready for your PC."

The other laptop with Windows 7 Home Premium says it's ready for installation.

Why is Windows 10 Pro Failing to upgrade?

Specs say WiFi is: 802.11 b/g/n Bluetooth V4.0 but not who the manufacturer is. Is it Intel or Nvidia? Do you have the model number?
LAN is: 10/100/1000 Mbps but again no manufacture, is it Intel or Nvidia and do you have the model number?

There are no Windows 10 drivers ion the ASUS site that I can find: ET2701INTI | All-in-One PCs | ASUS Global

You'll have to help me here. I looked everywhere I could think of - Device Manager, Network Settings - and nowhere are manufacturers mentioned.

The ASUS site which I checked is totally silent about any problems with Windows 10 installation.

 

Open Device Manager and expand Network Adapters, should show something useful.

Hi - I have exactly the same computer as you and have had the same problems. I got Windows 10 installed by downloading the 64 bit version onto a USB and installing from that. However, I keep getting failures on start up (video internal memory management error). I can temporarily fix that by waiting until I'm offered the troubleshooting options, starting in safe mode and uninstalling the nvidia graphics driver and restarting. Then it works until the next reboot. I assume it's the graphics driver, but I can't find any solution right now.

 

Thanks for that. I checked NVIDIA site: nothing about the problem there.

Hi guys,

Looks like you have not found a solution. That is a shame. This is the only forum I found this topic and was hoping I could have found the solution since I have exactly the same problem. It installs until 75% then reboots two times and then reverts to Windows 7. Really frustrating. Any real solutions are deeply welcome. Regards, Tom

 

Not yet. Actually, in my case it installs 100% before it reverts to Windows 7. Go figure!

Wow, 100%. That must be even worse than having it stop at 75. Funny thing, it installed perfect on my ASUS laptop that was bought 2 years prior to my All-in-one PC. It is really frustrating that no one has a solution as of now...but maybe when its time to pay for the upgrade! What is so special with the All-in-one that it does not install???

 

I also have the ASUS ET2701INTI and have experienced much the same problem. I have twice attempted to upgrade from Windows 8.1 to Win10 and initially it appears to upgrade fine but then as soon as it reboots the attempt to repair message comes up along with the VIDEO MEMORY MANAGEMENT INTERNAL message. I do believe it is related to the Nvidia video card drivers and there are other forums outlining similar issues with Nvidia drivers. Like someone else mentioned, if you uninstall the driver in safe mode it sometimes fixes the problem until the next reboot. Windows 10 forces driver updates using it's own libraries so you cannot resolve this by manually changing the driver, in any case, the driver that Windows installs appears to be the same version as listed on Nvidia website (ver. 355.60). I will keep watching this post in the hope that someone finds a solution but I fear we may have to wait for a latter Win10 build, or worse, be stuck with the Windows versions we have!
